Restoring an Academic Focus
Currently, our school district report card illustrates a staggering deficiency in academic competencies across Math, Science and Reading/Language Arts and has for the last decade.
Our students deserve better. I will advocate for the adoption of curriculum, standards, and strategies that have proven results in districts ranked at the top of their states. Our academic environment needs to become the central focus of our District.
Transparency
Open communication is vital in a healthy relationship. Our community has been vocal about the need for a more open and proactive School Board. Parents need to know that they are heard by administration and board members they reach out to. As a candidate for the school board, I believe that transparency is the key to building trust and promoting the success of our schools. The decisions made by the board have a significant impact on the lives of students, parents, and teachers, and it's critical that we operate with an open and honest approach.
Fiscal Responsibility
Fiscal responsibility is essential to the success of our schools. The decisions we make regarding budgets and finances directly impact the quality of education we provide to our students. Our District budget should be easily accessible, concise, and transparently communicated so tax payers can see their dollars at work.
Parental Rights / School District Rights
Our School District policy should reflect the values of our families and our community. Parents are the primary source of support for their children. While schools provide an opportunity for learning and growth they are not a substitute or replacement for parents, and the School District should never stand in the way of parental rights. I will stand with parents and advocate for their voices to be heard and respected.
